I recently had the opportunity to be part of a beautiful social media campaign with Texas Fashion Designer Nicó and it was truly a dream come true. I don’t consider myself a model by any means, but when the designer asked me personally to be part oft his project, I jumped at the opportunity! This collection is very special to me because not only is Haute Couture the highest form of slow fashion, Nicó made a conscious decision to make it low-waste and sustainable by using the fabric remnants to create all the details like hand-cut flowers and leaves, fringe, etc.
In the last 2 years, I’ve been growing so much in my journey towards making my closet more sustainable by not only quitting fast fashion and shopping second-hand, but also selecting who I work with carefully. Having the privilege to wear couture was never something I believed was even attainable, but today I find myself in a position where I can be selective and choose to work with designers and brands that align with my mission to share more sustainable fashion with my community.
Here at The Fashion Lotus, I always had a vision of sharing eco-friendly, sustainable, and ethical fashion and now, more than ever, my mission is clear as day. Thank you for being part of this journey with me as I continue to learn and grow within this space. I don’t aim for perfection, I focus on progress. I can only hope that as I learn more about sustainable lifestyle and fashion you join me, ask questions and learn more with me as we all do what we can to make this planet a better place for ourselves and our future generations.
