If you’re a fan of Lush Cosmetics bath and body products, you are in for a treat! They’ve had haircare products for some time now, but they just recently launched their product line for curly and textured hair and I’m trying them out for you!

I had already tried their Avocado Co-Wash Bar a few years ago when it had first launched and absolutely loved it, but now they launched it with a new and improved formula that’s free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). It smells incredible and actually generates some lather. After the co-wash, I’ used the Glory conditioner and it’s another hit. It has great slip and, you guessed it, it smells divine! After drying with a hair towel, I start applying their LOC system. Liquid, Oil and Cream is a system specially designed for curly, coily and textured hair. I started with the Liquid; the Super Milk is a conditioning liquid spray that can be used on wet or dry hair if you’re looking to refresh your hair. I altered the order a bit and went to the Curl Power hair cream next. I section off the hair to make sure every strand is covered.

Then, I diffuse on medium heat with my Conair Infiniti Pro Dryer. I love this diffuser because it’s a cup shape and my curls are super defined when I use it as opposed to air-drying. After it’s midway dried, I used the Renee’s Shea Souffle hair and scalp oil. It’s in solid form so I just rub my index and middle fingers on the surface of the product then use it to gently separate my curls to create volume without losing definition. Then I just air-dry the rest of the way. If it’s sunny, I’ll hang out in my patio and read a book or listen to a guided meditation while it finishes drying.

The results were defined curls and plenty of volume. I did notice a bit of frizz when I normally wouldn’t on day one, so next time I’ll probably use a bit more of the cream and the oil. Things I love about it: it all smells amazing, they are created by a Black haircare specialist with the intention of better serving our hair types, they’re ethically sourced, vegan and cruelty-free and the packaging is eco-friendly, even down to the shipping materials. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for curly haircare products!
