I’ve been dancing since I was 5 years old. I remember when my Mom took me to Ballet Class in Brooklyn, NY, I was so excited, I could barely contain myself. After I moved to Puerto Rico at the age of 9, I never went back to ballet, not because I didn’t want to, but there was always some sort of obstacle that got in the way. I started getting involved with sports instead and forgot all about dancing until I got to High School, where I became Co-captain of the Cheer Squad and started the dance team. I kept choreographing in college and performing here and there, but never anything serious. About 4 years ago, I got the itch again and I formed the dance team in Puerto Rico for the Young Women’s Division for the Soka Gakkai Intl., Buddhist Organization. We performed in every chance we had and it felt wonderful!
Flash forward to today, I’m 31 years old and I haven’t stopped moving. I formed the dance team for the SGI YWD in San Antonio, TX, my new home. I’ve realized that dancing doesn’t only make me happy, but it’s a vehicle for joy for others as well. I get other young women to dance and feel good about themselves and we make our audience happy. We’re not professional dancers, any of us, but the energy, the fun we have and the desire to make people get up from their seats and move, has given me more joy than I could ever imagine. My mission is to create a world of peace through the power of movement. I will never stop dancing!

“Live with a dancing spirit. The stars in the heavens are dancing through space, the Earth never ceases to spin. All life is dancing: the trees with the wind, the waves on the sea, the birds, the fish, all are performing their own dance of life. Every living thing is dancing, and you must keep dancing too, for the rest of your life!”
