Summer at the J.W. Marriott Hill Country Resort

Photo via
My birthday was almost 2 months ago and we finally got to do the plan we had originally set up for the day. We had planned to spend the day at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, but the storm rolled in and we had to postpone. We finally had the chance to go and the day was absolutely perfect! The sun was shining, the pool was cool and the husband and I were extremely relaxed. The best part was when the checkin girl said she loved my outfit, so naturally we had to do a mini shoot, haha! In all, the experience was great. The resort has a huge pool, an adult infinity pool overlooking the golf course, a sandy beach pool, a heated whirlpool, a lazy river you can float with the provided inner tubes and a full on waterpark grade slide. We opted to cool off and just relax, though. One thing’s for sure, the food and drinks are highly overpriced and you can’t bring anything from outside, but who’s to say your insulated water thermos is actually water? Just saying… Aside from that, the staff is attentive and the relaxation is well worth it. A Day Pass grants you access to all the water activities and the game room for the kids, as well. I might opt for the Spa Pass next time. The Lantana Spa has amazing reviews so I might just check it out. This Summer I plan on enjoying myself and continue to discover what Texas has to offer. Rivers, lakes, hiking and, pool time and outdoor fun is what is all about!

Stripes and Statement Buttons

This Summer I’ve been going to a lot of fun events and the heat has been so insane that I had to rethink what to wear to look great and feel comfortable at the same time. This dress has been such a staple in my Summer wardrobe, I actually got it in several colors. I love that the material is fresh and the cool detail of the tortoise buttons that are purposely misaligned to create a statement. I love everything about this look!

Stripe Dress on Repeat

Hello, Lotuses! Summer is definitely here along with scorching 3 digit temperature in Texas. This is when I opt for comfy sundresses. I really love this one from San Antonio based online shop, Zelle Boutique. I got this dress about a year and a half ago when they were doing there stint at La Villita in Downtown San Antonio as part of the OPEN Downtown Pop Ups program. They are a trendy shop with affordable prices and super cute clothes, shoes and accessories. Plus, the twins are my close friends and our dogs are “pawls”, too! I digress, lol… I’m gonna be real with you, I don’t constantly shop for clothing. Shocker, I know. I usually go shopping when I really need something, so naturally I wear outfits on repeat. The trick, which is obvious, is styling. When I posted this dress in 2016, I styled it for Fall Transition and shared 2 looks, both with booties. Now that it’s Summer, I go as practical as possible. Sandals and a cool straw bag. I’m coming back with more ways to style this dress and share some “Shop your closet” tips. Stay tuned!

Floral Romper & Rose Curls

Hello, Lotuses! I hope you’re enjoying the last part of Summer. This Texas heat is no joke! Last weekend we had a record breaking temperature of 105 F, but that didn’t stop me from going out to support the local events being held that day. Although, when I got home I totally crashed from exhaustion! At any rate, I wanted to share how much I love this new romper I found at none other than Ross, and of course it was a total steal! It’s cotton so the fabric was perfect and breezy. I just love it. I thought I’d wear heels that day, but I found these flat slip ons and I’ve been wearing them none stop for the last month. The ruffle detail is the perfect delicate flair I need in flats. So, I’m not sure if you noticed, but I went a little pink for my birthday a few months ago, and I’ve been able to maintain the color without damaging my hair or spending a fortune. My bff introduced me to Overtone and I’m obsessed! They have color conditioners and weekly deep treatments that refresh my color and protect my curls just by depositing the color on my existing highlights. I think I’m going lavender next. What do you think?

Me encanta.

Little Red Vest for Summer Layers

So, it’s hot as Hades, but you still love to layer? May I suggest the moto vest? I love layering because it adds dimension to my look, a pop of color and it just looks cool. This vest is from JustFab and it’s a vegan leather, fun filled item that turned my old off the shoulder Miami tunic, into the coolest look ever! The vest is a moto style so the zipper and belt tie add an edge to my look. I love the way the shoulders just peek through between the top and the vest. What do you think about layering in the Summer?

Summer Vibes Look featuring Fiesta Feet!

Hey hey! Is that Summer I see in the horizon? Well, it’s quickly approaching and after spending a day at the lake for Memorial Day Weekend I’m definitely in the mood for more Summer fun! We’ve already made plan from now through Fourth of July weekend. We wanna have picnics, doggy playdates, road tripping, tubing on the river and laying out on the beach on the South Texas coast, so we plan on thoroughly enjoying ourselves.
This outfit is perfect for a Summer BBQ, of which we’re huge fans! The top is from Francisca Showroom, a South Texas based boutique that carries L.A. based lines that are absolutely adorable, which fit my Latina curves perfectly. They recently held a Summer Pop Up Shop at Revolución Coffee & Juice Bar, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to stock up on some Summer must-haves! I’m all about the embroidery and statement sleeves this year, so this top was just perfect! All the jewelry and the “Good Vibes” clutch is from Stella & Dot. In case you haven’t heard of this brand, it’s a jewelry and accessories line that carries 100% unique designs that you won’t find anywhere else. Most of the pieces are 2 in 1 and up to 5 in 1 designs so they’re insanely versatile! The earrings actually turn into 3 completely different styles and the necklace is only a small piece from a layered necklace that can be worn 5 ways! I’m so obsessed with this line, I decided to become a Stella & Dot Stylist, so you can shop directly from the link below and you should totally take advantage of the major sale that’s going on RIGHT NOW, where you can get $25 for every $50 you spend (to use on future purchases) from now through 6/19/17. Go check it out here:

Now I HAVE to talk to you about these shoes. These are Fiesta Feet! It’s a local brand from San Antonio, but the shoes are handcrafted in Guadalajara, Mexico. My dear friend, Susie McKinley came up with the concept when she made the mistake of wearing heels while touring around the city, and came upon a traditional huaraches vendor in the market and the level of comfort she felt was unparalleled. They traditionally come in brown and tan, so she decided to make them fun with tons of color and different designs. Fiesta Feet are handcrafted in Mexico by a small group of artisans who are fairly paid and treated, and the company has pledged to donate part of the proceeds of the shoe sales to Kasa Kamami, an all girls foster home in Mexico. These are definitely the IT shoe of the Summer, as stated in Style Lush TV at the beginning of the year! I’m wearing the Confetti Popper Shoe and they are back in stock, so be sure to grab yours before they’re all gone! The colors and styles vary, but these have to be my fave, then the Rose Gold loafers are a close second.

Enchanted Rock + Giveaway!

Exploring Texas is one of my favorite pastimes since living in Texas. Before moving here, I thought it would be all about the Alamo, cowboy boots and 10 gallon hats. Boy was I wrong! There is so much to discover in this beautiful state. I’ve been to several towns and have been delightfully surprised by the diverse terrain, people and culture. For this little road trip, we visited Enchanted Rock State Natural Park. Located near Fredericksburg, TX, only 1 hour 30 minutes away from San Antonio. The road to Enchanted Rock is quite beautiful. You notice the change of scenery when you start driving through the rolling hills and beautiful foliage surrounding the road itself. Upon approaching the park, you see these domes of pink granite that are pretty massive. Legend has it, the rock formations have mystical powers. I wasn’t so sure about that, but I certainly felt more connected to the Earth during my visit! It’s still pretty warm here in Texas, but that didn’t stop us from getting a quick shoot in. I wore a lemon print, cold shoulder dress that’s perfect for this weather paired with my favorite shoes of the Summer from Vestigio LIFE. This shoe brand is so amazing, locally based out of San Antonio, Colombian born designs and sources her shoes from her home country. Check out the full story for this awesome brand on Style Lush TV!

Cómo me había equivocado!

Romping around

The heat in Texas is truly something else. When that thermometer hits 100°F+, all bets are off. I’m looking for the most comfortable outfits possible for my nights out around the city. Short, flowy rompers seem to do the trick. Even though this particular romper has long sleeves, the material is super light and the evening breeze just flows right through it. Be sure to catch this look on my next episode of Fashion Round Up on!

Industrial chic

San Antonio has so much to offer. Just 5 minutes away from downtown, The Pearl Brewery has become the urban oasis in the city. Right on the river, the beer brewery, which had originally opened in 1881, is now closed down, but some of the original structures still stand. Today, it’s known as The Pearl, and it’s home to great restaurants, the Culinary Institute of America and loft apartments. I feel like The Pearl symbolizes an urban living trend growth in the city of San Antonio. It’s not all historic buildings, but also a new form that includes industrial, modern living. Some of my favorite restaurants in all of San Antonio are in the Pearl! Definitely away from the conventional tourist traps, The Pearl is by far one of my favorite spots in town!

Off the shoulders

This Summer, I’m determined to enjoy all that San Antonio has to offer. So, last weekend I went to this summer Jazz series called Jazz in the Garden, which was held in the San Antonio Japanese Garden. I was so much fun and the place is so beautiful! Even though I already blogged about this dress from my trip to Puerto Rico, I couldn’t pass up a chance to take some photos from the bridge. I really did love this place, and we’ll definitely be shooting here again.
