White on Labor Day

Unofficially, Labor Day marks the end of the Summer season. When most vacation time ends and folks head back to the city or their hometowns to get back to the grind. There are many reasons why the “No white after Labor Day” rule, but in fashion, rules are meant to be broken. Stemming from the high society of the early 1900’s, white and light colors symbolized the look of leisure Summer and returning to the city for work, not only was white impractical during the rainy fall weather, but darker colors were considered more business appropriate, as pointed out in Time Magazine. These days, the rule is null, so feel free to wear white year-round! This SheInside dress is perfect for Fall. It’s thick material, asymmetrical cut and black trim give the dress an edgier look. Hay muchas razones por la cual comenzó la regla de no llevar ropa blanca despues del Día del Trabajo, pero en la moda, las reglas son hechas para romperse. Proviene de la alta Sociedad de los 1900’s, usar atuendos blancos y de colores claros simbolizaban el look de ocio del Verano y con el regreso a la ciudad, no sólo era impráctico por las lluvias otoñales, sino que tambien colores más oscuras se creían mostrar más profesionalismo y seriedad.
