Secret Santa

‘Tis the season and I couldn’t be more excited! My Christmas gift is already here, and my fiancee has definitely outdone himself this year. I, jokingly, asked for a new camera, for the blog of course, and he got it for me!! Although I know what it is, I insist on wrapping it up and putting it under the tree to open only on Christmas Day. I love the magic of that day so much, I’m gonna be extra patient and not touch it until then. I got him the Limited Edition “Zelda”Wii U, and it is safely hidden so he won’t start playing before the day. there’s nothing better than playing with your new toys in your PJ’s all Christmas Day. Of course, there are other gifts we’ll be getting and that’s from the popular Secret Santa at work. Usually the standard budget is $25.

I like Secret Santa gifts that are thoughtful and not just a gift card. It helps when you really know your coworker well, but if you don’t, whoever is organizing the event can email a simple questionnaire in order to get a better picture of your wishlist. Also allows you, the giftee to think of things you’d like from your Secret Santa.

7) Favorite Sports team
8) Favorite restaurant

10) What do you really want from Santa?

Grape Creek Vineyards

This weekend was amazing! We met with a group of friends from Puerto Rico that traveled from allover and went to Fredericksburg, TX, a quaint German town in the Hill Country, Northeast of San Antonio. The night before we had gone to Rainey St. in Austin, but that’s a whole other story. The vineyards and wineries in Fredericksburg are a pleasant surprise. The weather was so much better than the day before (it was freezing on Saturday) and we were able to enjoy a lovely afternoon of wine tasting, great conversations by the warm firepit and made wonderful memories. A fabulous weekend indeed.

Preppy cool

I always love a good preppy look. I’d been looking for a plaid blazer for quite some time, and I stumbled upon this one at Target in the Sale section, last one my size! My favorite part is the reversible collar, which I’m not sure if it’s really reversible, but who cares, it’s yellow and the contrast is awesome!!

Rainy daze

San Antonio has the craziest weather I’ve ever experienced. In the Fall, the temperature can be 80° for a week, and the next it suddenly drops to 30°. This week we’re having a cold front so it’s all cold and rainy. At least, during the day it hasn’t been so bad. I did have to layer my outfits though.

The Devil wears Prada (2006)
Ever since we saw Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) go from ugly duckling to a Chanel clad Swan in the Devil wears Prada, I couldn’t get these thigh high boots out of my mind. It was absolutely mind boggling for me to see these boots and not think “Pretty Woman” patent leather street walker boots. This look was so stylish, so sleek and preppy with an edge. As this trend makes it’s way back into Winter 2013, I’ve realized that even a non-celebrity, regular ole’ gal like me can rock this style, so as long as it’s done tastefully (hold the Miley Cyrus jokes).

Take me back to Tennesee

It seems like forever since my last post! I’ve definitely been out for a while, traveling for work and all, but I’m back. Now that I’ve been able to enjoy the full Autumn in the heart of the Tennessee mountains I can say that I’ve truly enjoyed the season. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking with mountains covered in gold and red leaved trees far as the eye can see. For weeks I worked extremely hard and I really needed to take a moment and enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer. It was a lovely experience!

State Capitol

As part of our little vacation, we visited Austin, TX. I’d been there before but we hadn’t seen the Capitol and the Downtown are during the day. Austin is vibrant, hip and full of life! The day was lovely, not too warm and definitely not cold. I wore a crochet top I found in the Market in Charleston, SC a few months ago. Note to self, always wear socks with boots, ouch!

Remember the Alamo

I’ve been living in San Antonio for 1 year now, and I visited The Alamo for the first time now that my friends are in town. It’s absolutely breathtaking! So full of history and so beautiful, it was a wonderful experience. The weather here in Texas is still pretty warm, so I opted to wear shorts with my favorite Gladiator sandals. The upcoming weeks will have colder weather so this may be the last chance I have to wear them. As a transitional piece I brought out a flannel shirt I’ve had for like 2 years now and wrapped it around my waist. I’ll very likely be wearing it again as the Fall season brings in the chilly weather. For all my island girls, this is the kind of outfit I would wear in the Fall when I lived in Puerto Rico. I loved keeping up with seasonal trends, but had to accommodate to the reality of a year round warm weather.

My Fall season started off with a visit from my future Mother-in-Law and some friends from Puerto Rico. This week will be jam packed with fun activities and plenty of tourism around San Antonio and Austin. We went to the Jalapeño Festival last Saturday in the Historic Market Square (El Mercado) in downtown San Antonio. We had great food, saw tons of Mexican art and danced away the afternoon. I dressed very casual in my fave colored jeans and wedge sneakers. Of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to break in my 3.1 Philip Lim for Target bag, tee-hee!
